Rideau Hall Foundation

The Rideau Hall Foundation was established during the mandate of His Excellency the Right Honourable David Johnston, Governor General of Canada, to strengthen the ability of the Office of the Governor General to better serve Canadians through a range of initiatives linked to leadership, learning, giving, and innovation. As we embark on Canada’s 150th anniversary as a nation, the RHF will serve to help Canadians from coast to coast to coast realize their aspirations for the country.

Every initiative of the RHF’s to address a social challenge will be taken on in partnership, bringing to bear the unique ability of the RHF to offer a platform, convene and connect, build capacity, and bring to scale good ideas for Canada. In the world’s most culturally diverse nation, we will bring together unlikely alliances, integrate seemingly opposing positions, and develop ideas that stick and solutions that last.

The RHF gathers, aligns, and catalyzes ideas, people, and resources to move the Canadian spirit and our shared aspirations forward. As an independent, non-political charity, the RHF works closely with the Office of the Governor General and many external partners to connect, honour, and inspire Canadians. The RHF was influenced by a desire to foster Canadian values and identity by utilizing the unique leadership role that governors general can play in helping marshal the talent, energy, and resources of the country.
